The Dirty Dozen – Week 9

Posted: October 25, 2011 in Power Rankings

It seems there are some clear delineations forming in the Dozen as the season progresses.
At this point I see three major groups, within which the teams could realistically claim any ranking.

Group A — The Elite
1. LSU (8-0, 5-0 SEC)
2. Alabama (8-0, 5-0 SEC)

Group B — The Strong
3. Stanford (7-0, 5-0 PAC)
4. Oregon (6-1, 4-0 PAC)
5. Oklahoma St (7-0, 4-0 B12)
6. Clemson (8-0, 5-0 ACC)

Group C — The Understudys
7. Arkansas (6-1, 2-1 SEC)
8. Michigan St (6-1, 3-0 B1G)
9. Wisconsin (6-1, 2-1 B1G)
10. Kansas St (7-0, 4-0 B12)
>> Four of the Wildcats’ remaining opponents are ranked in the BCS Top-25.
11. Boise St (7-0, 2-0 MWC)
>> The Broncos need TCU to find their way into the polls before they meet.
12. Oklahoma (6-1, 3-1 B12)

Outliers: Nebraska (6-1), Michigan (6-1), Virginia Tech (7-1)
